Exclusive Interview: Kris Travis

We are joined by the newly crowned UK Wrestling Television Champion Kris Travis! Now Kris, you’ve had a bit of an up and down last few months in wrestling so what’s it like to be the first holder of this new title?

* Lets be honest, there was only ever going to be one winner of the TV Title and it was always going to be me. For far too long Kris Travis has been lost in the wilderness in UKW..... not given a chance to shine. Now is the time for me to shine! *

The event on which you won the title didn’t start too well for you; it began with an embarrassing defeat to newcomer Tommy Idol, your 2nd defeat to Idol in a row no less. Judging by your demeanour before the match and the rumble in which you won the match that must have affected you?

* Listen Timmy,Johnny,Mikey Idol or whatever his name is shouldnt have been in the same ring as a true superstar like me....... he has been lucky , he lies and cheats and gets lucky time after time. As far as I am concerned those two matches never happened..... I am undefeated in UKW frommmmmmmmm NOW. *

Now, going back to your first match with Tommy…That ended in a embarrassing defeat in a “beat the clock challenge” where each of your fellow participants faced relative newcomers and both had no problem defeating them, each in 7 seconds. Would I be right in thinking that at this stage of your career a defeat like that has to hurt?

* See answer above..... this defeat did not take place *

The night of the Rumble for the Television Title it was terrible weather with some wrestlers having to leave the event early due to the snow, surely with your current losing streak it must have crossed your mind that it wasn’t even worth going out to the ring and making it home safely might have been more of an achievable goal for you- after all if a rookie can beat you twice in a row what would you expect to do against around 20 other wrestlers?

* I dont like your tone........ I had my tactics, yes I was down.... yes I was depressed but Im Kris Travis.... im the best wrestler in the UK.... I was always going to win the rumble! END OF.

So now you have your victory and are the holder of this title do you think you have got your Mojo back - will we be seeing the Kris Travis of old?

* Kris Travis will be tearing up UKW and making sure that the TV Titleis the one title to watch because I will be doing what I do best and thats stealing the show each and every night. *

You’ve been wrestling now for coming up to a decade; are you still enjoying performing?

* Right now I am focused on my wrestling career fully..... in the past i have let things cloud my judgement but right now I am fully focused on wrestling.... fully focused on UKW and fully focused on making each and every one of my matches the best that they can be! *

What have been your personal highlights of your career so far and is winning this belt one of them?

* Of course! Winning any title is always a highlight for a wrestler because at the end of the day it is what you aim for as soon as you get into a new company.... im proud to be the UKW TV Champion! Other highlights would be my tag team reigns with Martin Kirby and also my series with Lionheart up and down the country.*

The UK Wrestling Television title is the first legitimate TV title in British wrestling (or at least the first one that we know of) do you think you are somebody who could bring prestige to that title?
Do you think it’s important for British wrestling to have this television exposure even if it isn’t yet on a major free to view channel?

* I have been wrestling for around a decade.... im one of the best wrestlers in the UK and have the respect of my peers, so of course I will bring prestige to this title. I do think that it is a big steap having UKW on tv, it may not be a major free to air channel however it is a step in the right direction and one which UKW need to capitalise on! *

Your partner in Ego Martin Kirby and yourself seem to have had a number of matches recently which have seen you competing against each other, does this mean the end of Project Ego, and who in your opinion is the better wrestler in that team?

* Myself and Kirby have a love hate relationship..... we both love to hate each other haha. No in all seriousness we have had some heated matches up and down the country but when the time is right we both know we put those issues aside and become the greatest UK team on the scene at the moment!! Im going to be completely honest.... Kirby is the better ACTUAL wrestler.... but i have the mean streak which means I will do anything to win.... and usually do! *

A lot of our fans might not know but almost ironically the first ever UKW Champion was somebody who I believe you consider to have been one of the biggest adversaries you’ve faced in your career; Kevin (Seven) Thorne. His title win virtually kickstarted an entire promotion do you think your title win can have the same kind of impact?

* Kevin Thorn... wow. That guy hits hard!! He was the toughest guy I have ever faced, but you know what I beat him.... I have learned so much from him and now consider him to be a good friend! I do believe that my title win will be a turning point for UKW and will showcase just how good a wrestler I can be! *

What is next for Kris Travis; we know you have your eye on the UK Wrestling Title and you may now have to face some repercussions from your efforts in preventing Rampage Brown and El Ligero from getting the decisive number 1 contenders spot. That’s got to have you worried?

* I dont sweat Rampage and Ligero..... Ive beaten them too many times to mention. Im more concerned with keeping my TV Title and showing the world why its going to be the best title in UKW. *

One last thing, people may have seen a different side to Kris Travis recently with an event which you were involved with which was for a really good cause. Could you tell us a bit about that and let people know where the can go to get more information?
